Transcavallo 2026. Everything ready for the weekend (February 27 / March 1). Perfect snow conditions. Headquarters for Saturday and Sunday returns to Col Indes, back to the origins.
Tambre (BL), February 19 – Transcavallo returns to its historic home. On the occasion of the 43rd edition, scheduled from February 27 to March 1, 2026, after the first stage held in Piancavallo, the event headquarters will once again be set up in Col Indes, a few kilometers from Tambre. A choice dictated by the current snow conditions, but one that also carries symbolic value: finally, a return to the origins.
Col Indes is in fact one of the most iconic locations in the race’s history, where European Championships, World Championships and numerous World Cup races have been held. A start and finish area that over the years has helped shape the identity of one of the longest-running and most appreciated ski mountaineering competitions in the Alpine arc.
Transcavallo 2026, the first stage—following the cancellation of Altitoy—of the prestigious international circuit La Grande Course, will be structured over two main race days, confirming a format capable of combining tradition and competition.
Friday, February 27 – Piancavallo (PN)
Individual stage on a technical course leading athletes towards Monte Trèmol, before the final descent to Rifugio Val dei Sass.
Saturday, February 28 – Alpago (BL)
Team stage along the Alpago ridges: over 22 km in length and about 2,500 meters of positive elevation gain, in a race that traditionally determines the overall standings, based on the sum of times from the two days.
Alongside the main race, Saturday will also feature the Classic Individual Race, an individual event that maintains a high technical level while offering a shorter distance and elevation gain.
Sunday, March 1 – Col Indes (BL)
The final day will be dedicated to the Italian Youth Championship (U16–U18–U20), alongside the Experience Ski-Alp 3.0, a non-competitive gathering open to enthusiasts.
Three days of competition and passion that will bring athletes, teams and spectators back to one of the symbolic locations of ski mountaineering in Veneto, in an edition that promises to be particularly meaningful precisely because of the return to Col Indes.
As for registrations, entries for the stage race included in the La Grande Course calendar will close on Monday 23 at noon. Registrations will remain open until Wednesday (February 25) for the single race and for those wishing to compete in the team race on Saturday only. Registrations for youth categories will close on Thursday, February 26.
